Chef Buddies has been operating in the Tri-Cities area since May of 2008. Bev Matthews is the owner and operator of this fun filled business. She has over 15 years experience as a caterer and five years as a business owner in the food industry. Raising seven kids of her own has given her a world of experiences to guide her in this venture of teaching kids to cook. She enjoys cooking and has had several recipes published in "TASTE of HOME " magazine. She likes to have fun in the kitchen and help kids learn they can cook healthy, eat healthy and still enjoy cooking. Using the National Food Pyramid in the classes is one way she incorporates a nutritional program .
There is always fun in the classes whether it is from reading stories like ”COOK_A_DOODLE_DOO” or bobbing for apples or making play dough from kool aide. Kids learn to make soups, salads, and fun treats that they can make at home with their parents.
More serious aspects of the class are teaching about hand washing techniques with “Glo Germs” and a black light. Safety in the kitchen is also discussed, with knowing appropriate ages for mastering tasks the number one priority. But no matter what is scheduled for the day kids have Fun in the Kitchen.
